Kevin Williams, Guitar

Guitarist, drummer, and composer Kevin Williams was born in Washington D.C.
He began his musical training at 8 years old and has been playing ever since. Kevin has a B.S. in Composition and Theory from Towson University and a M.F.A in Performance from New York University. While in college, Kevin had the opportunity to study with many fine musicians and composers including: Randy Johnston, Vince Cherico, Rick Whitehead, Mike Abene, Frank Foster and many others. In addition to his training at university, Kevin has also studied at the Drummers Collective (N.Y.C), Antonio Adolfo’s School of Music (Rio de Janeiro), and the B.M.I Jazz Composer workshop (N.Y.C). Kevin has performed at various places around the East Coast including the Blue Note, International Association of Jazz Educators(IAJE) Annual Conference, and the 9:30 Club. As an educator, Kevin has taught music in both the D.C. and N.Y. public school system as well as Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn, NY. Currently, Kevin is teaching at the Academy for Learning Through the Arts in Washington D.C. as well as performing extensively on the East Coast. Kevin has two albums out the newest entitled Kevin Williams e as criaturas do norte which is a compilation of music by all Brazilian Composers.
