Shant Markarian, Percussion

Shant has played percussion for 31 years, beginning at the age of nine. He was taught jazz drumming techniques for 10 years by Berklee College of Music graduate Arthur Perry, as well numerous years of instruction in traditional band, marching band, orchestral and symphonic percussion. Shant has been teaching drums and percussion at the Sitar Center for 3 years, first working with the Latin Percussion Ensemble. He now teaches 1:1 drum and drum set techniques for modern drumming. Shant’s favorite drummer is jazz great Buddy Rich.
