Visual ArtsAmber Eve Anderson
Amber has been painting since she was in grade school. She began volunteering at Sitar Arts Center in 2008 as a way to share her passion for making art with others. Aside from painting she also enjoys reading, practicing yoga, knitting and traveling. Amber obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2005 with a concentration in painting. Collage Art, Color Mixing & Landscape Painting Sarah Campbell
Sarah learned her love of music by taking piano lessons for thirteen years as a child and has been dabbling in visual arts and creative writing for six years. She began working as the Programs Intern at Sitar Arts Center in September 2007 because of her combined love of children, teens, and the arts. Sarah is also interested in yoga, biking, traveling, and social justice issues. She hopes to become fluent in Spanish someday. Jewelry Design Geraldine Daigler
Gerry has worked with many mediums over the past four decades, but currently enjoys working in paper and clay. Her emphasis is on wheel-thrown functional pieces of stoneware pottery. Gerry formerly taught art at to elementary students. She has studied ceramics under Jill Hinckley for nine years and has participated in many workshops. Tim’s artworks include collage, photography, and decorative lighting, which are on sale at Pat’s Place, the Sitar Arts Center retail venue. In March 2006 the artwork of his Sitar Arts Center students was on display in downtown DC. Tim’s artwork in on display at his website, www.TimGabel.freeservers.com. Bio Forthcoming Graphic Design Jan Jacobson
Jan Jacobson has loved creating visual art since she was a child. She began teaching at Sitar Arts Center in 2007 after her two children attended classes at the Center, and she discovered what a great community it is. Jan has a B.F.A. from Virginia Commonwealth University with a special interest in crafts and wearable art. She has sold her line of women's wearable art and children's clothing in regional craft shows, galleries and boutiques. Fiber Crafts Diane Lathrop
Diane has completed courses in drawing, watercolor, and acrylics. She began volunteering at Sitar Arts Center in 2001 as an assistant in the young children’s visual art class and has since moved on to be the lead teacher in the class. Diane is especially connected to the Center because she is the daughter of Patricia M. Sitar, who inspired the birth of a neighborhood arts center and for whom the Center is named. Bio Forthcoming Pottery Adam Robinson
Adam has been creating art and music since childhood and has done a variety of work in graphic design, curating, and arts education. He joined Sitar Arts Center through the Corcoran Artreach program to teach visual and digital arts classes. Adam enjoys inspiring the youth of DC through humor and wit. He is also a fan of his cat.
