Zofie Lang, Volunteer
Pottery I
Born in Poland and raised in Germany, Zofie Lang came to the United States in 1998 to study psychology at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. An unexpected 8-month-exile in Germany in 2000 allowed her time to discover her passion for art, especially ceramics. Despite subsequently finishing her bachelor's degree in psychology in 2002, she decided to pursue a continuing art education by taking classes at Baltimore Clayworks, Towson University and The Art League in Alexandria, VA. While clay has been a focus medium in her artwork, Zofie prefers the freedom of using various materials and techniques to better convey her ideas. Zofie has displayed and sold her work at various venues in the greater Baltimore/Washington area. She currently resides in Capitol Hill and works for SR/A Interior Design.

Louisa lives in DC and co-teaches two of the Saturday classes at Sitar Art Center, Beginner Art: Collage & Paper Sculpture and Color Mixing & Landscape Painting. Her own background as an artist began at an early age, but she started focusing specifically on painting and drawing skills during high school and in college. Louisa minored in Fine Art at the College of William and Mary and during that time she also had the opportunity to study art history in Italy--a pivotal experience for influencing her career path, her love of travel, and her growth as an artist. Today, much of the inspiration for Louisa's oil paintings (her current medium of choice) comes from photos she snapped while exploring a new city or country. Meanwhile, she also enjoys meeting people from different countries and cultures and gets to do so in her job as an Advisor to international faculty and scholar visitors at the University of Maryland.
