| Job Description |
The music theory tutor maintains a log of students using the library and multimedia room, assists students with multimedia room materials and equipment, tutors students in music theory,
monitors students, their progress, and the proper use of equipment and materials in the multimedia room, and upholds Sitar Arts Center rules.
The tutor also provides positive feedback on student progress and encourages continued focus on artistic excellence.
In addition, he/she reports attendance, educational, or behavioral problems to the Director of Students, Director of Programs, or Music Programs Associate, and directs students in the clean up/maintenance of the multimedia room.

| Minimum Qualifications |
The music theory tutor should have a deep appreciation for the arts with at least 3 years of experience playing an instrument,
must be able to read music and have 3 years of educational training in music theory,
basic familiarity with computers and software, a strong desire to share that experience with children, and a commitment to diversity and community.

Music theory tutors will serve for one semester of classes. Tutors are eligible to continue in the following session with the approval of the Director of Programs/Volunteer Coordinator and Music Programs Associate. |

| Notes |
Those new to teaching or new to working with children are welcomed at Sitar Arts Center, as it is a learning place for all. New teachers have many options which include co-teaching and assistant teaching as well as being the lead instructor in a class. New teachers can also request to be matched with a more experienced teacher for advice on teaching issues and curriculm development. |
