WPAS: Young Playwrights' Theater
Giving Voice to a New GenerationShowcasing the talents and passions of inner-city youth, Young Playwrights’ Theater (YPT) presents three short, funny, and touching plays written by Washington-area students. These multicultural age-appropriate plays performed by theater professionals feature cutting-edge set and sound design. Witnessing these dramas written by their peers may inspire students to find a voice for their own creativity.
Reception for performance attendees will immediately follow in the Sitar Arts Center Gallery.

WPAS: Indian Dance Performance
India - It's culture, costumes, and classical dance.Arrayed in colorful costumes, artist Sudha Bhagwat is a trainer and classical dancer who performs the percussive and vibrant Kathak classical dance style of India. She invites the audience to learn Indian dance gestures and language, and to participate in interpretive dances based on rich Indian mythology and literature.
Reception for performance attendees will immediately follow in the Sitar Arts Center Gallery.

Exhibition Opening: What Planet R U From
An Exhibition of work by Daniel StuelpnageleSitar Arts Center will host an exhibition of art works by Daniel Stuelpnagel from April 3 through April 24, 2008, with an opening reception on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
The exhibition, part of the Sitar Arts Center Gallery Series, is entitled “What Planet R U From?”, and features art works describing the artist’s creative journey with the analogy of interplanetary space travel.
“We are interested in encouraging students to develop and examine their own creative paths,” said the artist, “based on travel experiences both real and imaginary.”
Daniel Stuelpnagel is a multimedia artist based at LOAD OF FUN studios in Baltimore, Maryland, USA (www.loadoffun.net). He is a four-time participant in ArtOMatic (www.artomatic.org), and a winner of the Adams Morgan Festival jury award for Best Abstract Painting.
