The amazing work of the Sitar Arts Center volunteers is being recognized in "Upstanders: Profiles of Courage" – part of the exhibit "Choosing to Participate," created by the educational nonprofit Facing History and Ourselves at the Historical Society of Washington DC. Sitar's volunteers are among nineteen individuals and groups that were chosen from the DC area to be recognized for their contributions.
The "Choosing to Participate" Exhibit examines activism by individuals and groups that either demonstrate an act of courage or some measure of compassion and has been on a five-city tour, with a local component added in each location.
The exhibit will be on display at the Historical Society of Washington through June 17, 2011. Click here to read more about the local "Upstanders" and the exhibit.
