Capital Campaign
The Sitar Center has moved to new 10,700 square feet of space at
1700 Kalorama Road, NW in order to serve hundreds of children (many
of whom have been on the waiting list) and families – regardless
of income – in Adams Morgan and surrounding neighborhoods
and nurture their artistic gifts. The Sitar Center provides 300
children and youth a structured, educational environment with caring
adults during the all too often bleak after-school hours and creative
experiences frequently missing from the public school curriculum.
Through a comprehensive program in the arts, the Sitar Center works
with young people to support their artistic interests and offer
a positive after school alternative in the neighborhood.

Sitar Center Students at the Opening on September 18, 2004. Fall
classes began on October 4, 2004.
Campaign Update
The $3.3 million Comprehensive Campaign Goal supported renovation
and acquisition and capacity building of the Sitar Center. In the
new space the Sitar Center has been able to increase the number
of students and take students off the waiting list, add new programs
and offer the community rich and diverse arts programs and performance.
As of November 2005 the Campaign has raised $3.3 million through
gifts and pledges from individuals, foundations, corporations, and
government. The Sitar Center is now raising an additional $1 million
for the purchase of its condo space (scheduled to close by January
15, 2006).
