Volunteer
Volunteers are the heart of the Sitar Center. Each week, over 100
volunteers and partner organizations teach 60 classes in visual
art, dance, creative writing, drama, and music, and over 100 private
music lessons.
Volunteers also assist the Center in data entry, mailings, and
other administrative tasks as well as offering pro-bono professional
services such as legal, real estate, architectural, interior design
and web site design.
In addition to volunteers from the community, we require involvement
from the parents or families of participating students. Support
from home is the key to the success of our students and parents
are critical to assuring that their students get the best education
possible and, by assisting with administrative and maintenance tasks,
assure that the Center will be able to continue to offer low-cost,
quality arts education to the community.
Sitar Center volunteers should have at least 3 years of experience
in their artform, as well as a deep appreciation for the arts and
a strong desire to share their gifts and talents with children and
adults of the Adams Morgan neighborhood.
