Imagination Stage Presents the Play: 10 SECONDS | Imagination Stage Presenta la Obra: 10 Segundos

“10 Seconds,” written by Miriam Gonzales, explores a world where deeply rooted biases and misperceptions easily take hold. Life can often feel unnerving — and can change for the better or worse in the blink of an eye depending on how we see each other. The protagonists are Ray and Jimi who are Washington, DC high school students trying to navigate their young adult worlds and what it means to be young Black men in the city. Ray tells the story of a day — and “10 seconds” inside that day — that he and Jimi will never forget, sharing not only their perspectives, but also the views of the police they encounter.

This show is recommended for students from grades 7th and up. Parents and guardians are also welcome and encouraged to attend. There will be a talk back at the end of the show. For more information, email Maria at maria@sitarartscenter.org.

10 Segundos, escrito por Miriam Gonzales, explora un mundo donde los prejuicios y las percepciones erróneas profundas se arraigan fácilmente. La vida a menudo puede resultar desconcertante, y puede cambiar para bien o para mal en un abrir y cerrar de ojos, dependiendo de cómo nos veamos. Los protagonistas son Ray y Jimi, estudiantes de escuela secundaria de Washington, DC, que intentan navegar por sus mundos de adultos jóvenes y lo que significa ser jóvenes negros en la ciudad. Ray cuenta la historia de un día, y “diez segundos” dentro de ese día, que Jimi y él nunca olvidarán, compartiendo no solo sus perspectivas, sino también los puntos de vista de la policía con la que se encuentran.
