Sitar Stories

Sitar’s Annual Early Childhood Professional Development Institute

One of the many ways we celebrate each New Year is Sitar’s annual Early Childhood Arts Professional Development Institute, “Meeting of Minds.” The yearly Institute, led by Sitar’s own Sylvia Zwi, brings together the brightest minds in education for experimentation, discussion, and development. It is a cornerstone of our dedication to forward-thinking, high-quality education, beginning at infancy.

Please join us for a not-to-be-missed conversation with our keynote speaker, Peter Gray, Ph.D., on Saturday, January 25th, with coffee beginning at 8:00 AM followed by Dr. Gray’s presentation, “Free to Learn” from 9:00 – 10:30 AM in Sitar Arts Center’s deLaski Theater. Gray is an esteemed author and research professor at Boston College, focused on natural ways of learning for children as well as the life-long value of play.

2020’s Meeting of Minds topic is “Artful Play.” The 3-day Institute is an essential time for Sitar’s community of artists, educators, and facilitators to come together. Here we delve into best practices in the areas of visual arts, music, dance, theater, and the humanities, and participate in interactive exercises and experimental activities such as the creation of live sample classes. The live classes support our belief in spaces where students and families can pilot new methods and modes of curriculum and provide their essential feedback.

Meeting of Minds is the time to hear from multiple experts and for great minds to come together.

To sign up for the Panel Discussion, or any of the sessions, please reply to me or Marco at marco@sitarartscenter.org by January 20th.
