Summer Musical

Participating in the musical is a unique and incredibly rewarding experience that takes dedication and hard-work. Students must be entering 5th to 12th grade.
Students are required to attend all daily rehearsals for six weeks and all performances, which are on a Thursday evening, Friday evening, Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon. Musical Program students who have 2 or more consecutive unexcused absences or miss a final dress rehearsal will lose their place in the final performances.
During the summer, musical students will also participate in a number of field trips and activities, such as field trips to The Corcoran Museum of Art and the National Arboretum or a scavenger hunts or field day. Musical students may also opt to participate in the Teen Summer Arts Intensive.
To be part of the summer musical, students must register for Camp Sitar and sign up for an audition at the registration appointment. For general auditions, students will be asked to:
- Sing a prepared song from any musical. An accompanist will be provided so bring sheet music.
- Perform a one-minute prepared monologue
- Read “cold” from the script
- Bring a recent photograph
- Note: Students seeking assistance preparing material for the audition should sign up for the audition workshop (usually held a week or two prior to summer musical rehearsals).
