Sitar Arts Center Launches Executive Director Search
Sitar Arts Center has officially launched a national search for its next Executive Director. Sitar is seeking a dynamic, strategic, and collaborative leader to guide its next chapter, increase its resources, and expand its impact.
Each year, Sitar welcomes hundreds of DC youth through the doors of our Adams Morgan art center, where they experience the magic of arts programming that nurtures their creativity, curiosity, and sense of belonging. Sitar’s broad range of classes in dance, drama, music, and the visual arts brings together youth from all backgrounds and experiences. Accessibility is at the heart of the nonprofit’s mission, with sliding-scale fees that ensure art is in reach for all, and programs from early childhood to paid arts internships for older youth provide a continuum of opportunities in creative youth development.
The incoming Executive Director will build upon the remarkable success of outgoing Executive Director, Maureen Dywer, whose vision and dedication have resulted in an award-winning organization with a clear mission, a talented team, and a deep commitment to creative youth development. After 15 years at Sitar’s helm, Maureen will be stepping away this summer to pursue her next professional chapter. Sitar is confident that its next Executive Director will continue Sitar’s legacy of leadership with compassion, integrity, and a bold vision for the future.
The Board of Directors is partnering with Carlyn Madden and Ana Chapa of Good Insight, a local executive search firm focused on nonprofits. The Board’s Search Committee is chaired by board member Chris Wingert.
The full job description is available at tinyurl.com/SitarArtsCenterED. Candidate referrals, personal interest, and confidential questions can be sent to sitar@good-insight.org. The Search Committee encourages applications by early May due to the pace of the search.
