Tara Malik (she/her) is committed to developing spaces that center youth leadership, social justice, and leverage the power of creativity to heal, inspire, and transform. With over 20 years of experience in creative youth development (CYD), she has supported and led community arts programs in Rochester, NY; New Orleans, LA; Chicago, IL; Washington, D.C.; Baltimore, MD; Carrefour, Haiti; and the California Bay Area. Tara sees creative expression not only as a tool for youth development but also as a critical means of advancing liberation and next-generation leadership.

Before returning home to the Washington, DC area, Tara held the role of Director of Media, Arts, & Culture at the RYSE Center in Richmond, CA, building systems of support for youth, artists, and educators that foster the CYD values of youth voice; racial equity and social justice; and collective action. She is a co-founder of the media arts nonprofit, One Bird, and has served on the Arts Education Alliance’s Board of Directors, the Association Haitienne de Development Humain’s Education Team, and the Creative Youth Development National Partnership’s Impact & Visibility Team. Tara holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from Rochester Institute of Technology and a Master in Arts Management in Arts in Youth and Community Development from Columbia College Chicago.
